The Christmas special is set to air on BBC Two and BBC One Wales on December 23 at 7.10pm UK time. More details below:
Katherine Jenkins OBE, the biggest selling UK Classical Artist of the Century, returns to Wales to lead a spectacular Christmas concert to air on the BBC. Gift-wrapped with incredibly special guests, surprise duets, enchanting carols and heartwarming moments, Katherine will pull out all the stops as she plays Swansea Arena for the very first time.
Special guests joining Katherine for her glittering celebration include: Welsh acting royalty Michael Sheen, singer-songwriter Jack Savoretti, opera singer and Masterchef champion Wynne Evans and pianist Chloe Flower. Katherine says – “There really is no place like home and performing in Swansea with some of the most talented and special people I know felt like a real gift. The festive season is always my favourite time of the year and for me it’s all about spending time with the people I love and cherish most. I hope this concert being shown on BBC brings even more people together to remind us of what makes Christmas special.”
As well as Katherine’s visit to the Cardiff Royal Marines – a nod to her commitment to the forces – the programme will also see Katherine look back at a life-changing moment in her own past when she visits Tŷ Olwen Hospice; the place of her beloved father’s passing to honour their amazing work.
The concert will feature a 31 piece band conducted by Ken Burton (Black Panther, Gospel Singer of the Year, BBC Proms) and some of Katherine’s most loved hits, festive Christmas carols and audience favourites.
Christmas with Katherine Jenkins will air on Saturday 23 December at 7.10pm on BBC Two and BBC One in Wales. It is produced by Afanti for BBC Wales. The commissioning editor for BBC Wales is Julian Carey and it is executive produced by Emyr Afan and Medwyn Parri.
